For your business to be successful, it is imperative that it has a clear destination and a map outlining the direction.  The destination is the vision held by all shareholders.  The strategic plan maps out the direction, or how you will get there. 

The objective of this confidential questionnaire is to provide business owners and their families and/or management teams with an indication of “where we are today” in pursuit of that vision.  It will help address such questions as “will we continue to run and invest in the business or proactively pursue a sale?”

The questionnaire will highlight current areas of concern and the building blocks for the future.  It will also analyze the current strategic position and indicate if the business is poised for growth or at some level of risk. Not understanding the true strategic position of a business can lead to poor strategy development or missed opportunities. 

By having all those who are directly involved in the ownership or management of the business complete the questionnaire (independently and in confidence), you can also identify any differences of opinion or potential conflicts that need to be resolved.

Subsequent re-completion of the questionnaire will provide you with a clear indication of the progress made in addressing the initial concerns.
